Memory Spring
The memory spring is a pneumatically operated special gas spring which can "memorize" a position along the stroke.
The memory spring built into truck steering columns which have driving and so-called easy entry position. In easy entry position the steering column moves into nearly vertical position in order to help the driver leave the vehicle. With the memory gas spring inside, the driver can memorize the driving position and easily reach it again from the easy entry position. For proper memorizing the column should have two gas springs: one memorizes the angular and one memorizes the axial direction.
This automotive project which has resulted a two in one (gas spring and memory function) solution developed together with one of our multinational automotive supplier partners.
